    Description

    Basic Pistol/CCW Class

    The NRA’s Basic Pistol course is required in Ohio prior to applying for your Concealed Carry License. If you don’t plan on applying for a concealed carry license but want to learn about pistols, gun safety and how to properly shoot a pistol, this class is for you as well. The class will be approximately 9 hours long and is completed in one day from 7am to 4:30pm. Students will need to bring a handgun (larger than a .22 cal), 50 rounds of ammunition, and hearing and eye protection. Handguns are available for rent if needed. The cost of the class is $95. Classes are held on the lower level of our store.

    Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling, how to clean your gun, various shooting positions, and ammunition. Also we will review the Ohio CCW Law Book and U.S states accepting your Ohio license. Students will use the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, and Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet. They will take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination to receive their qualification certificate at the end of class.

    Instructor Information

    Mike Reed is an NRA Certified Instructor, Range Safety Officer, and Benefactor Life Member of The NRA. He offers courses in Basic Pistol (Ohio CCW Class), First Step Pistol Orientation, Personal Protection In The Home and Home Firearms Safety.

    Mike spent six years in the United States Marine Corps where he served as a Military Police Officer. He began shooting and hunting at a young age and has over 35 years of firearms experience.

    Right 2 Arm Firearms does not give refunds.

    No refunds will be given for no-shows or last minute cancellations.

    No refunds will be given if you are denied your license by the State of Ohio after taking the class.

    Due to the small class size they will fill up quickly so it may not be possible to make changes once registered.

    MAKE SURE THAT YOU QUALIFY FOR THIS COURSE BEFORE SIGNING UP.

    The Ohio Revised Code section 2923.125 permits citizens of the State of Ohio to carry concealed handguns as long as they have met the following provisions prior to application:

    1. The applicant is twenty-one (21) years of age. (You may take the class before 21, but you cannot apply for the license until you are 21. The certificate from the class is valid for three years.)
    2. The applicant is NOT a fugitive from justice.
    3. The applicant is not under indictment for any felony, drug offense, domestic violence offense, or misdemeanor of violence.
    4. The applicant has not plead guilty to, or been convicted of, felony, drug offense, domestic violence (Plead guilty to a lesser charge to avoid a domestic violence conviction), misdemeanor of violence, or offense involving a child.
    5. The applicant, within the last three years of application, has not been convicted of or plead guilty to, a misdemeanor of violence.
    6. The applicant, within five years of the application, has not been convicted of, or plead guilty to, an offense described above as a juvenile offender.
    7. The applicant is not currently subject to a temporary protection order, a protection order or a restraining order.
    8. The applicant has not been adjudicated as a mental defective, has not been committed to a mental institution, has not been deemed mentally incompetent or subject to a court ordered hospitalization.

    The background and fingerprint check completed at the time of application WILL reveal the above listed activity. Do not apply if you have a concern about any of the areas. Money paid for the competency training WILL NOT be refunded if you are refused a permit due to any of the above listed items.
